Two people killed, another injured in overnight shootings in Charlotte

Two people were shot and killed in less than two hours early Sunday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

In the earlier case, just after midnight Sunday, police said two women were found with gunshot wounds at an apartment on Fairwood Avenue, near the intersection of Remount Road and South Tryon Street.

One of the women, 20-year-old Tayzhah Bush, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.

James Jawann Ratliff, 22, was found near the scene of the shootings, police said. He was arrested and charged with murder Sunday.

Early Monday morning, police arrested a second man — 21-year-old Don’Travius Jetton Henderson — and charged him with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the Fairwood Avenue case.

About seven miles away in west Charlotte, a man was shot on Palm Breeze Lane, in a neighborhood off Rozzelles Ferry Road, around 1:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital, and his name hasn’t been released yet.
