Pedestrian identified in fatal hit-and-run on North Graham Street in Charlotte
One person was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in north Charlotte Sunday night.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident happened on North Graham Street. Upon arrival officials say they located a pedestrian, later identified as Matthew Alan Midkniff, in the road where he was later pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation revealed Midkniff was standing in the right lane when he was struck. The roadway does have overhead lights and the victim was not wearing any reflective clothing, police say.
The section of the roadway does not have any crosswalks or pedestrian signals.
Officials with CMPD are searching for the suspected vehicle that struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
They are searching for a 1990’s model green Ford Ranger with an extended cab and front damage. Speed is a factor in the crash and detectives are working to determine if alcohol played a role, according to officials.
