Have you seen him? Police say this man carjacked woman, tried to sexually assault her

This story was updated at 5 p.m. Monday, November 19.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are looking for a man accused of carjacking and attempted sexual assault near Charlotte’s Park Road Shopping Center early Friday.

A 22-year-old woman was going to a drive-through ATM in the 1600 block of Woodlawn Road when an armed man forced his way inside the car, drove to an area near Independence Boulevard and tried to sexually assault her, police said.

The woman was able to escape, and her car was later found off Remount Road, police said.

Police have released photos of the man, who is also the suspect in a robbery on Montford Drive about an hour before the alleged carjacking.

In that case, police say the man climbed into an Uber driver’s car and took her phone and keys. The driver was not physically hurt, police said.

The suspect is black, about 5’10” and was last seen in a two-tone denim jacket, a black hat and white shoes, CMPD Lt. Muriel Hughes said Monday. He was wearing a gray mask across his face.

He should be considered “extremely dangerous,” Hughes said. Hughes refused to say whether the weapon shown during the carjacking was a gun.
