Three police departments joined forces over the weekend to track down a suspect sought for the murder of a man just outside of uptown Charlotte early Sunday.
Carlton Hancock, 47, is charged with murder, assault by strangulation, robbery with a dangerous weapon and car theft, according to a press release from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Charlotte investigators said they worked with police in Greensboro and High Point to track down Hancock, said a police statement.
Hancock is accused of killing Brian Scott Carriker, 56, who was found north of uptown Charlotte with “obvious trauma,” said a police statement.
Carriker’s body was found just after 1 a.m. in a home in the 1300 block of Tinnin Avenue, off of Statesville Avenue, said a police statement.
That area north of uptown is among the fastest growing in Charlotte, with new homes and apartments.
