One person shot, injured by Iredell County deputy Saturday

An Iredell County Sheriff’s deputy shot and injured a person in Mooresville Saturday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident happened on Tall Oak Drive. Officials said that around 10 p.m., they responded to a call about a dispute between a father and a son.

Deputies identified themselves at the front door, officials said, and when one deputy knocked, a person inside the home answered the door with a gun pointed at the deputy.

At that point, the deputy shot the person in the abdomen, officials said.

That person was taken to the hospital, but there’s no word on the person’s condition.

The deputy was not injured during the incident. Officials said there is no threat to neighbors.

The State Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.

The sheriff’s office will also conduct an internal investigation.
