Man fatally shot Monday at south Charlotte apartment complex, police say

A man was shot and killed at a south Charlotte apartment complex Monday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police department.

Tyron Jodie Ervin, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 9100 block of Fishers Pond Drive, at a complex that backs up to McAlpine Creek south of Pineville-Matthews Road, police said.

Police responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m., according to a news release. The Observer’s news partner WBTV reported that several people called 911 to report the sound of gunshots at The Retreat at McAlpine Creek Apartments.

Police have not released information about any suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
