Charlotte man charged in Lincoln County fraud case

A Charlotte man was arrested this week after the credit card of a Chapel Hill builder was fraudulently used to buy a zero turn lawn mower at the Lowe’s store on N.C. 73 in eastern Lincoln County.

Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators charged Lucius Anthony Williams, 41, with one felony count each of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and identity theft.

Williams was arrested in Mecklenburg County and released on $3,000 bail until a court appearance June 11 in Lincoln County District Court.

The credit card belonged to Grau Building Co. and was used at the Lowe’s on April 22, sheriff’s investigators said. The mower is valued at $2,732, investigators said.
