Police arrested three men in connection with a robbery late Wednesday outside an apartment complex off Providence Road in south Charlotte.

Police said the victim was robbed of his cell phone in the 5800 block of Grand Canal Way.

While they were at the complex to investigate the robbery, police said another person approached them to say he’d been robbed in the same parking lot on May 14 but never reported it.

Police said they soon saw a man matching the description of the robber. The man was in a vehicle with two other men, and police took all three into custody.

Charged with robbery and drug offenses were Charlotte residents Derek Montgomery, 21, Jeremy Norman, 23, and Rashaun Ross, also 23. Montgomery was jailed on $31,000 bail, Norman on $32,000 bail and Ross on $25,000 bond.

Police said Norman is a convicted felon and was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Police said they seized three guns and marijuana, as well as a laptop stolen during a May 13 house robbery on Brittany Court off Providence Road.

Anyone with more information in the cases is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
