Narcotics investigators conducting drug interdiction surveillance in eastern Lincoln County arrested a Stanley man Monday during a traffic stop on N.C. 16 near N.C. 73.
Investigators said they approached Jimmie Dewayne Tate’s car and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Officers said they found 10.8 grams of marijuana, a trafficking amount of opiates and small doses of Oxycodone and Xanax in the car.
Tate, 57, was charged with one felony count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and trafficking in opiates, and misdemeanor simple possession of a controlled substance schedule II, simple possession of a controlled substance schedule IV and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
After an appearance before a Lincoln County magistrate, Tate was taken to the Lincoln County Detention Center, where he was processed and released on $20,000 bail.
