Arrest made in theft of puppy from Rowan Animal Control
Authorities arrested a Salisbury woman after a puppy was stolen from the Rowan Animal Control building in the 1400 block of Julian Road on May 26.
Rowan County sheriff’s investigators said they charged Cindy Wilson, 47, with felony larceny.
Wilson was taken before a magistrate and was released on a written promise to appear in court Thursday.
Investigators said a woman entered the Rowan Animal Control building and looked at the puppy in a back room.
The woman picked the puppy up and made her way to the door, investigators said. The woman left the building and is seen on surveillance video rapidly leaving the parking lot, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators said they later identified Wilson as a suspect and went to her home near High Rock Lake, where they found her and the puppy. A sheriff’s detective returned the puppy to Animal Control.
