Loaded guns found in carry-on bags at CLT
Federal agents found two loaded handguns in the carry-on bags of passengers at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport last weekend, the Transportation Security Administration reported Friday night.
Agents said they found a .38-caliber gun last Saturday and a 9mm pistol Sunday.
The weapons were among 42 loaded and seven unloaded guns found at U.S. airports May 29 through Thursday, according to the TSA’s weekly blog.
Passengers can face a penalty of up to $11,000 for bringing such weapons in their carry-ons.
The TSA does not say on its blog if anyone was fined.
