A York woman was charged with three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child after leaving three children in a hot car while she was shopping, according to Rock Hill Police.
Shawnetta Patrice Wright, 25, of Hall Street in York, was placed in the Rock Hill city jail under $6,000 bond.
A witness saw three small children in a car in the parking lot of Walmart on Dave Lyle Boulevard just before 5 p.m. Friday, according to a police report. The children were “crying loudly and drenched in sweat.”
The witness told police she saw the children in the car for more than 45 minutes with no adult around. Police said the rear windows were rolled up and the front windows were cracked slightly.

Officers reported the temperature outside was about 85 degrees at the time.
Wright exited the store as police arrived and said she was only inside for “a few minutes,” police said. Two of the children in the vehicle were hers, and the third child was her niece.
Wright was taken into custody. The children were released to a relative, and the Department of Social Services was notified of the incident.
