Charlotte man arrested in Concord fatal shooting

A Charlotte man has been arrested in Saturday’s fatal shooting in a Concord subdivision.

Police charged Garland Bedford Phillips IV, 20, with murder. He was taken to the Cabarrus County Jail without bond.

At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Meadowbrook and Cedarbrook lanes in the Meadowbrook subdivision.

Officers found Loney Felder lying in the roadway. He’d been shot multiple times, police said. Felder died later of his injuries.

Phillips and Felder knew each other and had a dispute over property earlier Saturday, Concord police Capt. Robert Ledwell told The (Concord) Independent Tribune.
