69-year-old charged with trafficking opium
Rowan County sheriff’s investigators arrested and charged a 69-year-old Davie County man this week with nine counts of trafficking opium.
The arrest of Harvey Welker Fraley Jr. of Advance followed three undercover drug buys, including one in the parking lot of a senior center, investigators said.
Investigators said the senior center was doing taxes for seniors that day, but that Fraley had no affiliation with the center.
Fraley is accused of selling nearly 250 morphine and hydrocodone tablets to an undercover officer from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office on April 14, May 11 and on Tuesday.
Fraley was placed in the Rowan County jail on $175,000 bail.
He was already out on bond from a March arrest by Salisbury police, who charged him with obtaining property by false pretense.
The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information about narcotics trafficking call the office at 704-216-8700. All information is confidential and rewards are offered, investigators said.
