Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Thursday they have identified a person of interest in Tuesday’s double homicide in northeast Charlotte, but they need help finding a second man who they think may have information about the case.

Shortly before midnight Tuesday, police said, officers were called to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 4100 block of Atmore Street, off East Sugar Creek Road and The Plaza.

They found a man and a woman fatally shot and later identified the victims as Matthew Daniel Brown, 26, and Mykeijaa Shanquial Tucker, 23.

Police said they have identified the man shown in a grainy video surveillance image police released after the shootings. They have not said whether he is a suspect in the case.

Investigators are now asking for the public’s help in identifying a second person of interest. The man is about 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds. He was wearing a custom baseball cap with “Raptors” displayed on the front. Police released video surveillance pictures of the man on Thursday.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) and speak directly to a homicide detective. Or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
