Salisbury 16-month-old hospitalized with suspicious life threatening injuries

Salisbury police said a 16-month-old girl was hospitalized with suspicious life threatening injuries on Wednesday, and they’re investigating the circumstances.

Police said Rowan Emergency Medical Services was called to a home in the 1000 block of East Lafayette Street at about 10:20 a.m. in reference to an unresponsive child.

The child was taken to Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord and then transferred to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, where she was in critical condition Thursday, police said.

The Rowan County Department of Social Services is assisting with the investigation, police said.
