Lockdown at Charlotte high school prompted by report of student at bus stop with gun
Several students were detained at Independence High School Wednesday morning after police received reports of a student displaying a gun.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say they were notified the student was displaying a gun at a school bus stop and possibly had another firearm in a book bag.
The school was placed on lockdown while officers inside the school investigated. No weapons were recovered and officers are still on scene investigating, officials said around 8:30 a.m.
“There is no threat to students or faculty at this time,” CMPD tweeted.
