Pizza delivery man shoots robbers in east Charlotte, CMPD says
A man delivering pizza at an apartment complex shot and injured three people who were trying to rob him late Monday night in east Charlotte, police say.
A fourth person accused in connection with the robbery was not injured, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Police say the deliver driver, who was carrying a pistol, called 911 to report the robbery and shooting near the 3300 block of Magnolia Hill Drive around 11:50 p.m. He told officers four people tried to rob him and had fled after he fired his gun.
Later, investigators discovered an “assault-style rifle” one of the four used to try and rob the pizza delivery driver.
According to Observer news partner WBTV, the robbery took place at the Hillrock Estates Apartments.
Police found three of the suspects and less than two hours later, located the fourth suspect at a hospital. Three suspects sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, CMPD officials say.
Two of the suspects, ages 15 and 16, have been charged but their names were not released due to the age.
CMPD also charged Nemiah Zante McInnis, 20, officials said in a news release Tuesday. Arrests warrants are pending for a fourth person, Toybyus James Bank, 18, who is facing charges but as of Tuesday morning was still in a hospital, police said.
The criminal charges are for robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, police said.
An investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
