A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder in Sunday’s fatal shooting of a man who was a passenger in a ride-share vehicle, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Wednesday.
Police arrested and charged Trevor Lloyd Powell, of Charlotte, with murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and three counts of discharging a firearm into a occupied moving vehicle, according to a release.

On Sunday, police said 19-year-old Jacquez Keyshawn Moore was killed and a 22-year-old woman was injured while they were passengers in a vehicle driven by an Uber driver. The shooting occurred around 4:55 p.m. in the 8600 block of Old Concord Road, south of East W.T. Harris Boulevard, police said.
The driver told police he picked up Moore and the unidentified woman shortly before the shooting, according to CMPD. They were on their way to their location when another vehicle pulled up next to the Kia Soul driven by the Uber driver, police said. While they were stopped, someone in the second vehicle fired multiple times at the rear of the Kia, officials said.
The driver told police he “drove a short distance away” and called 911.
The driver told 911 that two people in the backseat of his Kia Soul had been shot, according to emergency radio communications available from Broadcastify.
Moore was found dead in the car, and the woman was hospitalized “with non-life threatening injuries,” officials said on Sunday.
Friends posted condolences for Moore on his Facebook page.
“Wow, RIP Jacquez this is getting ridiculous we been saying RIP too much this year something need to change,” one friend wrote.
Attempts to reach Moore’s family were unsuccessful.
The case is still under investigation. Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
