Two arrested in armed robbery, shooting at soul food restaurant in north Charlotte

Two people have been arrested in an armed robbery and shooting of an employee at a soul food restaurant in north Charlotte Thursday afternoon, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The incident happened around noon at Mr. C’s Restaurant on N. Tryon Street, near Craighead Road north of uptown and Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood. Police say the employee, a 48-year-old woman, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Friday, police said 24-year-old Trevon Ricks and 25-year-old Deonte Curry were arrested in the case. Both were charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Curry, who police say was fighting with victims inside the restaurant when officers arrived, was arrested at the scene. Ricks was arrested a short time later.

Police say the suspects intended to rob the business but one of the suspects began fighting with employees and then shot the female employee multiple times.

The victim’s name and current condition have not been released.
