CMPD investigating Wednesday morning homicide
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide near the intersection of Willilyn Lane and Huntwood Drive in west Charlotte.
Police said officers responded to a call around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday with Medic at the intersection near Wilkinson Boulevard and found a victim dead with a gunshot wound.
Officials identified the victim as Joshua Leland Cox, 41.
This is the 29th homicide of the year. The city had experienced 31 homicides this time last year.
An investigation is ongoing. Authorities ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
