Shooting reported off Eastway Drive in Charlotte, 1 person dead, officials say

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says a person was shot and killed Sunday morning in a neighborhood off Eastway Drive and Shamrock Drive in northeast Charlotte.

WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, reported police responded to a shooting on Audrey Street around 10:15 a.m. One person died, according to Mecklenburg Medic.

CMPD says it is investigating the death as a possible homicide. Police identified the victim as a male but have not released the person’s name.

“Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine if there are any additional witnesses to this incident,” CMPD said in a news statement Sunday afternoon. “Detectives are also currently speaking with all known involved parties. At this time, detectives are not looking for any suspects.”
