Man dies after being found shot multiple times in southeast Charlotte yard, CMPD says

A Charlotte man has died after being found lying in a yard with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Marcus Okoye Withers, police said in a release.

CMPD says the shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. outside a home in the 300 block of Skyland Avenue, which is in the southeast Charlotte community of Grier Heights.

“When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim in the yard of the residence who had been shot multiple times,” CMPD said in a release. “MEDIC transported the victim to Atrium Health’s Carolina’s Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.”
