Man dies after being found shot in street of Charlotte neighborhood, CMPD says

A man has died after being found with a gunshot wound in the street of a northwest Charlotte neighborhood Tuesday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Keontez Stephens, CMPD said.

He was found by officers around 6:30 p.m. on the pavement in the 3000 block of Westwinds Court, which is just north of the Interstate 485 loop near Brookshire Boulevard.

“MEDIC arrived and transported him to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later,” CMPD said in a release.

Police have not said if they have a suspect in the shooting.
