Pedestrian critically hurt after being hit by vehicle on N. Tryon Street, CMPD says
A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday after being hit by a vehicle on North Tryon Street and the driver fled, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a press release.
The victim was identified as Thomas Daniel Moore, CMPD said.
It happened around 4:38 a.m. Sunday in the 7400 block of N. Tryon Street at Stetson Drive, just south of University City Boulevard, CMPD said in a release.
“Officers received a ... call for service in reference to a male subject sitting down in the road,” CMPD said in a press release.
“When officers arrived, they located the pedestrian, Mr. Thomas Daniel Moore, in the road who had been struck by a vehicle. The driver and vehicle involved in the crash had left the scene. ... Medic transported the pedestrian to Atrium Health Main with life-threatening injuries.”
Investigators are seeing help to find the driver. The vehicle is described as a Navy Blue Honda CR-V, police said in a release.
Camera footage of the suspect’s vehicle was recorded at two intersections, including North Tryon Street near Tom Hunter Road. Images were released by CMPD in hope of identifying the driver.
