Two men dead, one person wounded in series of shootings on southwest Charlotte street

Two men are dead and another person is hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a series of shootings Sunday on a street in southwest Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The two dead have been identified as Keith Fitzroy Rivera, 29, and Kawon Markus Hoover, 28, police said in a Mondary morning update.

The identity of the victim who is still hospitalized has not been released.

CMPD detectives say it happened around 9:50 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of Reid Avenue, near the intersection of Clanton Road and West Boulevard.

Officers arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds and began “rendering medical aid,” a release said.

“MEDIC responded to the scene and transported both victims to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, one of which was pronounced deceased upon arrival to the hospital,” CMPD said.

The second victim died early Monday at a hospital, police said.

“While on scene, officers learned a third gunshot-wound victim was taken to the hospital by a third party, and that person is also being treated for life-threatening injuries,” police said in a release.

Anyone with tips in the case can call CMPD at 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
