Man shot and killed in shopping center parking lot near Pineville. Identity released.

A man shot and killed in a shopping center parking lot near Pineville Monday night has been identified by police as 35-year-old James Lee Christel.

The incident happened before 12:30 a.m. outside of Fox & Hound in the Countryside Shopping Center off Pineville-Matthews Road, east of Interstate 485.

Police say Christel was shot multiple times.

The Pineville Police Department says they are investigating the case as a homicide.
