Gastonia man arrested in break-ins, robberies

A Gastonia man has been arrested and charged in Friday’s break-in of a Huntersville home with people inside and two other Charlotte-area robberies.

Police said they arrested Steven Ross Johnson, 29, without incident Monday in connection with a May 29 home invasion in the 11000 block of Treebranch Drive, off Mount Holly-Huntersville Road in northwest Mecklenburg; a June 5 armed robbery in the 9700 block of Steele Meadow Road, off Steele Creek Road in southwest Mecklenburg; and Friday’s house break-in with people inside in the 7600 block of Horseshoe Creek Drive, off Beatties Ford Road in Huntersville.

Police charged Johnson with five counts of second-degree kidnapping, four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of assault by pointing a gun, two counts of communicating threats, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and interfering with emergency communications.

Johnson was in the Mecklenburg County jail Tuesday on $177,000 bail.
