2nd arrest made in killing of elderly Lincoln woman
A second arrest has been made in the February killing of a 77-year-old eastern Lincoln County woman.
Amber Dawn Harris, 28, of Morganton, was arrested Monday on a felony charge of accessory after the fact of a felony, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced. Harris was jailed on $30,000 bail.
Harris is accused of trying to help Chadwick Allen Bean, 40, of Morganton, cover up the killing of his grandmother, Lucille Miller Punch.
Bean was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder and is in jail without bond.
Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Tim Johnson said Harris is accused of helping Bean by burning his clothing in a wood stove and telling him she would be his alibi that he was not in Denver, N.C., at the time of Punch’s death.
Punch’s body was found by her son-in-law on Feb. 22. She had been stabbed multiple times in her home in the 400 block of Beth Haven Church Road in Denver, N.C., the sheriff’s office said.
