1 dead in east Charlotte shooting

A 20-year-old man was shot to death late Wednesday in an east Charlotte neighborhood off East Sugar Creek Road and The Plaza, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

De’Angelo Dante Dumas was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

The shooting happened about 10:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Finchley Drive, police said.

Police aren’t saying whether they have a suspect or what they believe led to the shooting.

Dumas had trials pending on charges from January of felony possession of a stolen vehicle and misdemeanor possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana, court records show.

He was found guilty last year of felony possession of stolen goods and misdemeanor possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana, records show. He served no time in prison for those offenses but was still on probation when he died.
