Federal agents confiscated a loaded .380-caliber handgun from a passenger’s carry-on bags at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on Thursday.
The gun was among 48 loaded and five unloaded firearms found in carry-ons at the nation’s airports this week, according to the Transportation Security Administration’s weekly blog Friday night.
The TSA doesn’t say on its blog whether it arrested any of the passengers caught with weapons, but said they can face fines up to $11,000.
Agents also seized fireworks from a passenger’s carry-ons at CLT.
“With Independence Day around the corner, please make a mental note that all fireworks are prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage,” the TSA says on its blog.
