‘Thank you for accepting my daughter’: CMPD Officer Goodwin’s father speaks at funeral

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Mia Goodwin was killed on duty in a wreck involved two semi-trucks on I-85 in the early morning of Dec. 22. Goodwin was 33, and she had just come back to work from maternal leave.

To remember her, friends and family of Goodwin gathered at First Baptist Church in uptown for her funeral on Dec. 29.

In this video, Antonio Figueroa, Goodwin’s father, thanks the people of Charlotte during the funeral for accepting his daughter into the community.
