No cause for alarm: Police to hold bomb squad exercises in uptown Charlotte on Saturday

Residents and visitors traveling through uptown Saturday shouldn’t be alarmed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Bomb Squad vehicles — it’s only a drill.

CMPD will conduct training exercises at the Ally Center, at South Tryon and Stonewall streets, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some nearby areas could be visibly restricted, according to police spokesman Stephen Fischbach.

“The CMPD is constantly training to be prepared for any major event or crisis,” Fischbach said.
