Amber Alert canceled for 1-year-old girl missing from Mint Hill home, state says
A 1-year-old girl in Mint Hill was found Sunday, officials with the N.C. Department of Public Safety said.
Her reported abduction prompted an Amber Alert over the weekend, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Lilliana Josephine Lemmond was reported missing, last seen Saturday, at 5332 Quail Ridge Dr. in Mint Hill, the center reports. She was wearing “white pajamas with blue and pink animals” at the time, the N.C. Department of Public Safety said.
Investigators initially suspected she may have been abducted and named the girl’s father, Jeremy Scott Lemmond, 39, as a suspect.
He was arrested Feb. 9 by U.S. Marshals near Pilot Mountain, N.C., and charged with “felony breaking and entering, assault inflicting serious injury (felony), felony speeding to elude, assault on a female (misdemeanor) and two counts of child abuse (misdemeanor),” WBTV reported.
A woman identified as Destiny Madison Pack was also taken into custody Feb. 9 for “assisting him in the abduction,” WCNC reports. She is charged with “aiding and abetting child abuse and obstruction of justice,” the station said.
