— WBTV News (@WBTV_News) July 1, 2015Fire crews were battling the active blaze at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, at 564 MacKey Road, Mark Keel, chief of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division told the newspaper.
Keel said the church fire could have been ignited by lightning during a Wednesday evening storm, but acknowledged other recent church burnings in the wake of the June 17 killing of nine worshipers at Charleston’s Emanuel AME Church was concering.
