Anonymous tip leads to Lincoln County drug arrest
An anonymous tip on a sheriff’s office drug tip line led to the arrest Tuesday of a Lincolnton area man and the seizure of a large amount of marijuana, Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators said.
The phone tip led investigators to a home in the 200 block of Bynum Road south of Lincolnton, where officers said they seized nearly 3 pounds of marijuana from inside a refrigerator in an outbuilding, along with $1,100 cash.
The marijuana was valued at $3,000 to $4,000, depending on how it is sold, narcotics Lt. Jon Propst said.
Terrell Richard Sweet, 45, was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sweet is free on $8,000 bail.
“Tips from citizens are a big part of our narcotics investigations, and we urge anyone who has information to call our drug tip line or Crime Stoppers,” Propst said.
