Concord man accused of shooting his wife
A Concord man was arrested and charged in the shooting of his wife in their apartment early Wednesday.
At about 4 a.m., police were asked to check on an apartment in the 4000 block of Concord Pointe Lane where a man had told a family member he was going to harm his wife and then himself. The man asked the family member to take care of his children, police said.
Police said they found three children alone in the apartment and signs of a physical altercation.
Soon after police arrived at the apartment, Delano Byars, who lives in the apartment with his wife and children, showed up in the emergency room of Carolinas Healthcare System-NorthEast with his wife, who’d been shot, police said.
Byars, 33, was placed into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. He was jailed on $750,000 bail.
Police said Byars’ wife, whose name they are withholding, remained under medical care later Wednesday and her injuries are non-life threatening.
