Mount Holly police search for pawn shop break-in suspects
Mount Holly police are searching for three men they said were involved in a break-in at Mount Holly Gun & Pawn on East Henry Street early Thursday.
Police arrived “within seconds” of receiving a call from an alarm company that an alarm had sounded at the business shortly before 3 a.m., Police Chief Don Roper said.
Officers saw two males inside the store and one in a dark green four-door Honda Accord across the street, Roper said.
One of the men inside the store ran away while the other got in the car with the driver, Roper said.
The car, which had been stolen, headed north on Highway 273 to Highway 27 and into Charlotte.
Officers pursued the car into Charlotte and then stopped the pursuit near Interstate 485 for safety concerns, the chief said.
Police said they found the car Thursday morning in the 6400 block of Tomahawk Lane, near Moore’s Chapel Road in Charlotte.
A K9 unit from the Gastonia Police Department helped look for the suspect who ran from the store. No arrests have been made, Roper said.
Investigators are working to recover video evidence from the business and are working with federal ATF and other agencies to determine if the break-in is related to other recent crimes in the area.
