No charges to be filed ‘at this time’ in shooting at rapper DaBaby’s NC home, DA says

No one will be charged in the shooting at Charlotte rapper DaBaby’s Troutman home last month, authorities said.

The investigation into the April 13 shooting has been completed, Troutman Police said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

After consulting with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office, authorities won’t be filing any criminal charges “at this time,” the post said.

The shooting left one person with a non-life-threatening wound to their leg, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.

Police did identify the shooter or victim in this case.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, and another person were inside the home at the time of shooting, police said. In a 911 call, an unidentified individual told the dispatcher that they shot a “trespasser” on the football field outside of the home.

The DA’s decision comes a week after Rolling Stone released security footage from the shooting at a Huntersville Walmart involving DaBaby in 2018. He claimed self-defense after fatally shooting 19-year-old Jaylin Craig during an altercation.
