A Statesville man arrested in June on child pornography charges has been charged with 49 counts of sexual-offense felonies after more victims came forward to investigators, authorities said.
Ted Melton, 41, is now being held under a total $1.9 million secured bond for the charges, which include statutory rape/sex offense, indecent liberties with a child and sexual offense with a child, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Melton was arrested and jailed on $300,000 bail in June on 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor after sheriff’s investigators found a computer at Melton’s house that contained images and videos of child pornography.
Since his first arrest, more complaints came into the sheriff’s office, the office reported. Victims were interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center, and with these interviews and information from witnesses, authorities were able to charge Melton with the sexual offenses, according to the sheriff’s office.
