One dead after early Sunday shooting in east Charlotte, CMPD says

A person was killed early Sunday in an east Charlotte shooting, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a welfare call for service near the 7100 block of Snow Lane, CMPD said in a news release. There, officers found an individual who’d been shot, the release said.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. They were identified by CMPD on Monday as 32-year-old Ahylea Willard.

No other information was released, and investigators have not identified a suspect.
