$40,000 reward offered for information in Charlotte man’s shooting death

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $40,000 to anyone who has information that can lead to the suspected masked killer of a Charlotte man.

Just before 11 p.m. Oct. 9, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police discovered the body of Edy Alvarado, 46, at the 10800 block of Southern Loop Boulevard just off of Nations Ford Road in southwest Charlotte. Alvarado died of an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Crime Stoppers said Thursday that it has received a private donation to increase the reward for information about Alvarado’s death from $20,000 to $40,000.

Police are seeking information to help identify the masked man in the photos provided. He is seen wearing a black hoodie, black mask and red gloves, and was standing next to a staircase.
