Elderly homeless man beaten with cinder block in Gastonia
An elderly homeless man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being beaten with a piece of cinder block late Monday in the 1500 block of West Garrison Boulevard in Gastonia, police said.
Fletcher Harold Campbell, 78, is undergoing facial surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, police said.
Gastonia police ask that any of his family members, and anyone with information to help solve the case, call police Detective David Whitlock at 704-842-5123 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.
Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
