Stanley man faces added sex charge

Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators have filed an additional sexual assault charge against a Stanley man.

In March, Robert Anthony Waldrup, 23, was arrested on charges of statutory rape/sex offense of a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old victim by a defendant more than six years older and cyberstalking.

Investigators said the sexual assault against a 14-year-old girl happened sometime last year between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30, after the victim was driven to a relative’s house on Old Plank Road in eastern Lincoln County.

The cyberstalking charge stemmed from numerous text messages sent to the victim and her friends and family, investigators said

On Friday, investigators announced that Waldrup has been charged with an additional count of statutory rape/sex offense of a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old victim by a defendant more than six years older. The added charge involves an assault on the girl between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30 of last year, investigators said.

Waldrup remained jailed Friday on $300,000 bail.
