Can you ID person of interest in homeless man’s beating?
Gastonia police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in connection with the beating of a 78-year-old homeless man on West Garrison Boulevard.
Fletcher Harold Campbell remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being beaten with a piece of cinder block late Monday in the 1500 block of West Garrison Boulevard in Gastonia, police said.
Police said Friday the person of interest is not a suspect but might have been the last person to see Campbell at a convenience store before the assault.
Police released video surveillance of the person and asked anyone who can identify him to call detective David Whitlock at 704-842-5123 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.
Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
