Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police deployed its SWAT team in south Charlotte just before noon Friday, according to an alert by the department.

The team was sent to the 7500 block of Quail Meadow Lane, near the Bridges at Quail Hollow Apartments off of West Sharon Road.

CMPD said it was assisting officers with a “barricaded suspect” and told the public to avoid the area.

Just after 2 p.m., police said they’d found and arrested a person. “The area is now being cleared,” CMPD said on Twitter.

Police haven’t released the name of the person or the charges involved.
