16-year-old charged in fatal shooting of 15-year-old in east Charlotte, CMPD says

A 15-year-old was killed early Sunday in a shooting in east Charlotte and a 16-year-old was arrested for his death, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Around 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of assault with a deadly weapon in Hickory Grove near the 7400 block of William Reynolds Drive, CMPD said in a news release. There, police discovered a juvenile with a gunshot wound.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

One suspect, a 16-year-old, was arrested Monday in connection with the homicide, police said. The teen is charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a minor.

No other information was released.
