Charlotte golfer arrested for doing donuts on Tega Cay course

Tega Cay police charged a Charlotte man with vandalism after he reportedly cut “donuts” into the grass at the Tega Cay golf course on his golf cart.

An officer was called to the course on Molokai Drive at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after the manager accused a golfer of intentionally driving a rented cart in a reckless and destructive manner on the course, according to a Tega Cay Police report.

The officer questioned the 20-year-old man at the golf club, noting he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

After visiting the course, the officer noticed “visible signs of damage” to the green, and also located the suspect’s golf clubs and a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey. A witness also told the officer he saw the man cutting donuts on the course.

Ryan Nelson was charged with public disorderly conduct, malicious injury to property, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
