Monroe police investigating convenience store robberies
The Monroe Police Department is investigating five convenience store robberies that occurred starting July Fourth weekend that may be related.
The five late-night robberies involved suspects who sometimes used a handgun, according to a police report:
▪ July 4: Two people tried to rob the T&M Food Mart on Lancaster Avenue at about 10:50 p.m., but fled when the door was locked.
▪ July 5: Two suspects robbed the Marathon store on Morgan Mill Road at about 10:20 p.m., using a handgun to demand money from an employee, and left on foot.
▪ July 10: Two suspects robbed the Stop N Shop on East Sunset Drive, again showing a handgun and asking for money, at around 10:30 p.m.
▪ July 12: The T&M Food Mart on Lancaster Avenue was robbed by suspects using a handgun but firing no shots around 9:19 p.m.
▪ July 12: Later in the night, around 11:20 p.m., suspects used a handgun and a long gun to rob the On The Run store on N. Charlotte Avenue.
Anyone with information can call Union County Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600 or the Monroe Police Department at 704-282-4700. The Union County Crime Stoppers are offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
