Ride-share passenger shot on I-85 in Charlotte by someone in another car, police say

A bullet fired from another car on Interstate 85 in Charlotte Thursday hit a passenger in a ride-share vehicle, police said.

The victim had non-life threatening injuries, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said on Twitter.

“All other occupants are unharmed,” police said.

The passenger was shot on I-85 southbound between Statesville Road and I-77 around 2:30 p.m., police said.

The vehicle hit by bullets was a Lyft SUV, WSOC reported.

Police didn’t say if the shooting was random.
